Remembranzas
La Sonora Ponceña
Reminiscences
Reminiscences of a past that began yesterday
After so many years of true unity
That if we could reach, we did not achieve
Because it was easier to destroy than to strengthen
You say yes, I say no, you say no, I say yes
But the truth never appeared
We were aimless sailboats that shipwrecked at sea
Because we lacked a captain to steer the helm
And on a marble rock our epitaph remained
That if we could reach, we did not achieve
Because it was easier to destroy than to strengthen
Love no longer exists, it was all an illusion
Hopes died, disillusionment triumphed
You say yes, I say no, that's how it was
Reminiscences of a past that began yesterday
I hoped to find tenderness and much happiness
And only found by your side
Me pulling this way, you pulling that way
To remember is to live, to die while thinking
There was no happiness, it was all falsehood
We were aimless sailboats that shipwrecked at sea
Because we lacked a captain to steer the helm
Let's break the contract of our cheap love
Let's remain as friends
Because that's how destiny decided
I won't fall in love again, I've had an experience
I will never give my heart to someone who doesn't deserve it
I hold no grudge against you and I ask you as a favor
Let's toast to peace and bid each other farewell
