Ad Mortem Festinamus

Lamia Lamia

To Death We Rush

To death we rush, let’s stop sinning.

I aimed to write about worldly contempt so those living in this age aren’t fooled in vain.
Now is the time to rise from the sleep of wrongful death.

Life is short, it will end quickly, death comes fast, it fears no one.
Death takes everything and shows no mercy.

Unless you turn back and become like a child, and change your life to better actions,
you won’t be able to enter the kingdom of God, blessed.

When the trumpet sounds, the day will be the end, and the judge will arrive, calling the eternal
elect to the homeland, destined for hell.

How happy will those be who reign with Christ, face to face, they will behold Him,
Holy Lord of Hosts, they will shout.

And how sad will those be who perish eternally, they will never cease, nor will they die for these reasons.
Alas, alas, the wretched will never escape from there.

All the kings of the world and the great ones in it, and all the clergy and powers,
let them become like little children, fighting against vanities.

Oh, dearest brothers, if we contemplate the Lord's bitter passion worthily, and if we weep,
it will guard us like the pupil of the eye, so we don’t sin.

Noble Virgin of virgins, crowned in heaven, be our advocate with your Son,
and after this exile, come to our aid as a mediator.

You will be a lifeless corpse, why don’t you fear to sin?
Why do you seek to swell with pride? Why do you seek money?
Why do you wear fancy clothes? Why do you seek honors?
Why don’t you confess with repentance? Why don’t you rejoice against your neighbor?
