El Ratón
Las Pastillas del Abuelo
The Mouse
They call him the mouse because he steals the cheese
from those lying blue princes,
who steal kisses without knowing what a kiss is
who show off their back and that's why they think they're cool.
They call him the mouse because he makes a hole
in any girl's heart,
and to the partygoers who claim to be partygoers
he shows that the night never ends.
He appears when the city falls asleep
when people wake up, he's still there,
among beer and various vices, he gets lost
he wanders overnight when the bricklayer sleeps... when the bricklayer sleeps.
They call him the mouse because he rummages through the trash
to see if he finds an extra peso for a cold one,
he keeps going with the beer and doesn't crack
he endures the stitch until dawn breaks.
He's the mouse because he's faster than the wind
when he's chased by the cats,
he spins constantly, he doesn't know the lesson
of the partygoers, he's already formed a union.
And with the money he earns, he goes all out
he never in his life made it to work on time,
when the responsible one cries for what he loses
he enjoys anticipating what's to come.
He appears when the city falls asleep
when people wake up, he's still there,
among beer and various vices, he gets lost
he wanders overnight when the bricklayer sleeps... when the bricklayer sleeps.
