Canarinho Prisioneiro / Merceditas
Lauana Prado
Imprisoned Canary / Merceditas
I'm that canary that sang in your backyard
In front of your window, I sang all day long
Then I went to a cage and they made me a prisoner
They took me to the city, traded me for money
In the basement of those buildings was where I lived
They insulted me to sing but I didn't sing out of sadness
In that imprisoned life, many times I imagined
If I broke this cage, I would return to my homeland
One afternoon, the boss's daughter came
She saw me in that sadness and touched her heart
She opened the gate, taking me out of prison
Go away, little canary, go sing in your homeland
Today I'm back here since early dawn
Announcing the sunset and the break of dawn
Flying over the forest and delighting my beloved
Very happy to have returned, to my old dwelling
I remember with longing your charms, Merceditas
Fragrant, beautiful flower
I remember that once I met her in a field far away one afternoon
And today only the memory remains of that love that faded
And so our desire was born
With illusion, with much faith
But I don't know why this flower left me pain and loneliness
She left with another love
And thus made me understand what it is to desire
What it is to suffer because I gave her my heart
And so our desire was born
With illusion, with much faith
But I don't know why this flower left me pain and loneliness
She left with another love
And thus made me understand what it is to desire
What it is to suffer because I gave her my heart
