Mi Formosa
Lazaro Caballero
My Beautiful
I want to tell you, fellow countryman
From the land where I live
There are clouds of dust
North wind and whirlwinds
The birds in the marshes
Get into the reeds
Agoutis run from the wind
That shake the palm groves
Oh bathing places
Surrounded by rushes
Heading further up
The dense vineyards
Here I sing to you, fellow countryman
To this generous land
Nature gave me
My province of Formosa
The sun warms the earth
And even clouds your vision
Where the iguana bathes
Along with the lizard
Runners of the hills
Get into the thickets
Behind some wild boar
Showing its bravery
The cry of the owl
Mixes with the cicada
When the verses are heard
On those festive nights
Here I sing to you, fellow countryman
To this generous land
Nature gave me
My province of Formosa
