Muis in de supermarkt
Leen Jongewaard
Mouse in the Grocery Store
There in the self-service store
There lives a mouse, I often see 'em
I grab a cart and I drive
The mouse always rides along with me
There it sits sweetly at ease
Between the jam and the canned meat
Between the coffee and the grits
And on the door hangs a sign
"Cats only on a leash"
Mouse in the grocery store, mouse in the grocery store
Feels right at home in the grocery store
By the butter and the tea
On top of a pack of mashed potatoes
Lives in the pasta shelf, pasta shelf, pasta shelf
Sleeps in a corner alone
Mouse in the grocery store
The customers find it so-so
A lady screamed: "Oh my"
And fled into the freezer
And froze to the Igloo
Because ladies are so very precise
They find mice scary and gross
They complain: "That's just too much
There's a mouse on the bacon"
They immediately go to the boss
"Boss of the grocery store, boss of the grocery store
Mouse is on the cheese of the grocery store
It's a shame that it's allowed"
Little droppings in the sprinkles
There in the pasta shelf, pasta shelf, pasta shelf
Oh, how fast he runs
Mouse in the grocery store
Then the boss says: "Excuse me ma'am,
That mouse belongs in this building,
I won't set a trap, I won't get a cat,
That mouse stays here, and that's that"
Now the mouse is well taken care of
By everyone who knows 'em better
So that it becomes chubby and plump
And on the door, there hangs a sign
"Cats only on a leash"
Mouse in the grocery store, mouse in the grocery store
Feels right at home in the grocery store
By the butter and the tea
On top of a pack of mashed potatoes
Lives in the pasta shelf, pasta shelf, pasta shelf
Sleeps in a corner alone
Mouse in the grocery store
Sleep, little mouse, and dream of your mother
Behind the pudding powder
