Catavento e Girassol

Pinwheel and Sunflower
My pinwheel has inside what's on the outside of your sunflower
Between the wide open and the contained, I asked you for a sharp and you laughed flat
You only think about space, I demanded duration
I'm a suburban cat, you're coastal
When I respect the signs I see you on skates coming the wrong way
But when I act tough, you play the doormat and avoid conflict
Neither of us gives in, we don't listen to advice
I'm you disappearing into the sinkhole of the mirror
I'm from Engenho de Dentro and you live in the wind of Arpoador
I have a shy manner and you're outgoing, the insect and the flower
One roots for Mia Farrow, the other is Woody Allen
When I whistle a serenade, you dance Hawaiian
I go in sneakers and jeans, I find you overdressed, high heels, soirée
When things get rough on the corner, you act all posh and insult me in English
It's fuck you, you get all worked up and no one interferes
You're me disappearing into the sinkhole of the mirror
Peace is made in a motel with washed and ironed souls
Only to find out soon after that it was all for nothing
During carnival days, disappointments increase
You go to Parati and I go to Cacique de Ramos
My pinwheel has inside the wide open wind of Arpoador
Your sunflower has on the outside the hidden part of Engenho de Dentro's flower
I miss you a lot, you're contemporary
I think about everything I do, you're so spontaneous
I know one depends on the other just to be different, to complement each other
I know one moves away from the other, in distress, only to get closer
You have a green way of being and I'm kind of red
But the two of us disappear into the sinkhole of the mirror
