The Face of Christ
Every time I read the story of Christ
I find myself thinking with deep emotion
About the privilege that many had
To see His face, to feel His hand
I would also share the same joy
To have Him close, right next to me
To look into His calm and gentle eyes
And oh, how happy I would be like that
I wish I knew what His face looked like
Though I feel it must have been so beautiful
It inspired faith and also trust
And brought everyone endless joy
And when I see the images in painted frames
Of what they say is my Lord
My soul can't accept what's on the canvas
The painter's inspiration is false
I don't believe, I don't believe, in a defeated Christ
Full of bitterness, a face of pain
I believe in a Christ with a joyful face
For I believe in a Christ who is a victor
And one day I will see Him face to face
And that's how I believe through my faith
Oh! Hallelujah! I will see His face
I will see Jesus as He is

I will see Jesus just as He is
