Por Fuera, Por Dentro
Leonel García
Outside, Inside
I find you when I cross the door,
I hadn't seen you in so long,
I contain the surprise, and pretend to be normal,
I ask how everything has been,
And I think you'll say it's bad,
You tell me you've been fine, how about me,
I say a thousand things, but the truth is, I don't want to talk,
I want to hug you and kiss you and start over,
On the outside everything looks calm,
Inside I can't bear it.
I smile on the outside, inside it hurts,
On the outside I'm alive, inside it's so different,
On the outside I breathe, inside there's no air,
On the outside I look at you, inside I want to caress your heart.
I ask how your life is and think there might be loneliness,
You tell me you've been with someone else for a while,
You say a thousand things that hurt to hear,
You're running and I still can't walk,
On the outside everything looks calm,
Inside I can't bear it.
I smile on the outside, inside it hurts,
On the outside I'm alive, inside it's so different,
On the outside I breathe, inside there's no air,
On the outside I look at you, inside I want to caress your heart.
