Ignis Deorum

Lèpoka Lèpoka

Ignis Deorum

The fire burns, voracious
It will evaporate
A gift in paper
Legacy of yesterday

Pyre that questioned
A religion
Tonight it will burn
The wood will cradle faith

Caress the heat
For challenging a God
For wanting to understand
What others only believe

Flame of faith
Hatred turned into light
Kills the words of those
Who took the pen and not the cross

I am a young minstrel
For a few coins
I will tell you
What was the end

The sky, in pain
Cried, and that water
Dried the fire's gag

A man, now older
Pearled with rain
Threw himself to the ground
Cried out in pain

And when he rose
Lost gaze
He spoke to all although not with his voice

If your God is just and merciful
What fear do you have to doubt?
If He created you and gave you reason
Don't you see that the most normal thing is not to believe but to ask?

If you order to burn everything
That differs from your faith
This is the message I understand
That you cannot reason, and therefore you only burn!

His honor took little time
To be condemned
Despite not even remembering
What happened

His body is now
Heat in ashes
And his sin turned into smoke

Then it happened
We could hear it
It was the same voice
From the other occasion

Another innocent
You have silenced
When will you learn the lesson?

If your God is just and merciful
What fear do you have to doubt?
If He created you and gave you reason
Don't you see that the most normal thing is not to believe but to ask?

If you order to burn everything
That differs from your faith
This is the message I understand
That you cannot reason, and therefore you only burn
