Middle Eastern Serenade

Marcos Mundstock: The renowned composer Johann Sebastian Mastropiero, in search of inspiration, made a trip to the Middle East, to the hot regions of 'Uf Al-Sudar'. There, a slight indisposition of the sheikh led Mastropiero to be received by Abdul, the elderly Imam of the main mosque. Imam Abdul presented himself to Mastropiero and said: 'Master, today I will be your host because my boss the sheikh is plagued by a headache.' Imam Abdul had a magnetic personality, like all imams. As he explained to Mastropiero, the most fanatical Muslims were called 'Very-sulmanes'; and on the contrary, those who only partially followed the precepts of Muhammad were 'Ma-o-menos'. He also told him that the Bedouins came from some populated oases and others from certain deserted deserts. Mastropiero said goodbye to Abdul and went to meet a tribe of Bedouins with whom he lived for several weeks. The members of the tribe were nomads in two ways; they were nomads because they roamed without a fixed residence and because they were no more than... fifty or sixty Bedouins. In that tribe... Fifty-three, fifty-four... no, they put it like that to give an approximate idea, you don't need to know the exact number... Ah, no, because...! Ha, ha, it doesn't make sense... It's a text, let's say, descriptive, it's not a statistical thing... Okay, it's logical, I mean, in case one dies, a new one is born, they never know the exact number, they're not going to go around saying something that... fifty-five... In that tribe, two brothers sheikhs disputed the command: Mohamed, the big one, and Nomemohes, the little one. Sheikh Nomemohes was about to get married and entrusted Mastropiero with the work we will hear next: the serenade that the groom sang the night before the wedding. Daniel Rabinovich: Tomorrow we will finally be married. Our life will be a bed of roses, for Allah protects lovers, and I love you, my twenty future wives. I love you, I love you, women of my harem. Zoraida, Scheherazade, Zobeida, Farah, Zimrut, Rosa, Zulma, Dalila, Zaida, Jasmine, Fatima, Mora, Farisad, Marien, Amina, Zuleica, Axa, Dunia, Zoe, and Maria Angelica. We will live passionately, our life will be a paradise. I will be faithful forever, I will never deceive you... with another harem. And now I have to leave you; tomorrow will be our wedding night and I have to prepare. When tomorrow night greets us, there will be no sorrow or fatigue in our bed. When my body is entwined with yours, we will be happy. May Allah bless you, and may Allah help me!
