Adeus Minha Terra
Liu e Léu
Goodbye My Land
Today marks another year
Since I said goodbye to my parents
I left the little white house
And the longing of my sighs
On the journey I was singing
But my heart I left behind
It was at the moment of my departure
I hugged my poor mother
In sobs, I asked for her blessing
I kissed her wet face
Goodbye, my mother, I'm leaving
I'm leaving my home and won't return
To the friends who write me letters
I'll ask for this and nothing more
Don't ask about a person
Because it brings me much sorrow
It's only for her I left my father and mother
They cry too much in my absence
Today I go through life singing
Who laments doesn't gain advantage
Getting to know this colossal Brazil
The interiors and the capitals
The guitar is my defense
I make a living easily and it still entertains me
Goodbye land where I grew up
Goodbye mountains and coconut groves
Goodbye people of old congonhas
Goodbye time that won't return
Today far away I suffer in silence
Because I swore not to return
