Hillbilly Way
I'm going back to my land in the simple life of a hillbilly
I'll work in the fields even if it's to pull out stumps
The noise of the city is driving me crazy
Things here are already out of control
I'll live where it's good at Mr. João's little shop
We give him five hundred, he still gives change
There's no fun here, many things torment me
We can't see the sky in this gray city
Smoke from the chimneys, not even an armadillo can stand
I don't see the Moon rise or the Sun come in
My sacrifice is great, I earn very little here
My neighbors are strange, they pass by without greeting me
Rotten wood doesn't split, but it's soft to cut
I live here in the city hitting cold iron
I only have a hot head and an always empty pocket
That's why I'm leaving, my heart has decided
I'll venture into the wilderness, live off fishing and hunting
Live in a free shack on those riverbanks
In the thatched hut tied with vines
Anyone can say what they want, but no one will take me from there
I leave my hammock set up, I'm also steady in my aim
I see the Moon and the stars after the Sun sets
And in that place I feel God visiting me
Money won't buy my hillbilly way
