Ma tristesa
Lluís Llach
My sadness
Blurred,
dressed in old rags,
you ask me for charity,
but, my love, if you are my whole wealth.
You walk alone,
and you say 'I am here
for whoever wants to live with me,
that I will never tire of loving him.'
And how I would like to die with you any evening,
you are my wealth, my chain, my princess,
my freedom, my freedom,
only for you the man is crying.
Unknown,
the child sees you pass by,
opens his eyes and looks at you in vain,
does not know you, does not take you or kiss your image.
And amidst wrinkles,
the old man says your name,
as if it were the last treasure
that he does not have now that life is fading away.
And how I would like to die with you any evening,...
Poor ignored one,
they have made you a witch by the fools,
they have chained your body
and still you say,
'I am here to love you.'
And how I would like to die with you any evening,...
