I'll Never Understand
I wonder why I'll never understand
that behind a child's smile there's always the fear of someone leaving.
I wonder why I'll never understand
that the price of this rifle is a body that hunger lays to rest in the ground.
Not the cynicism of those who chain the bodies of those who dare to love.
Nor those who, in the name of some god, crucify again while they hide and stay silent.
In whose name, excuse me?
I wonder why I'll never understand
that the goodbye of a love always makes us forget so many tender moments.
I wonder why I'll never understand
why my comfort will always come at the cost of your poverty.
Not the dream thieves who, incapable as they are of the tomorrow that enchants us,
make their mediocrity, trading failure, in the name of realism.
They will not find forgiveness!
Not the cynicism of those who chain the bodies of those who dared to love.
Nor those who, in the name of some god, crucify again while they hide and stay silent.
Not the dream thieves who, incapable as they are of the tomorrow that enchants us,
make their mediocrity, trading failure, in the name of realism.
Nor will a just arm, risen from the depths of the sea, solemnly execute
those who, with and for power, drool over the guts ripped apart by war.
In whose name, excuse me?
