La Armando Saavedra
Los Chalchaleros
The Armando Saavedra
(Zamba)
At Armando Saavedra's place
a good burner from Salta,
cradled by the bagüala
his heart beats. bis
Among the weeping willows
guitar, wine, and barbecue,
and the day breaks while coqueando
as the plow rests. bis
The thrushes sleep
among the branches of the mulberry tree,
and as the tobacco fields dream
they perfume the entire night. bis
In the drum of the moon
the night wants to strike,
a couplet comes swaying
born in the carnival. bis
And on the dirt patio
the zamba comes to dance,
and the whole circle turns into dust
while singing. bis
The thrushes sleep
among the branches of the mulberry tree,
and as the tobacco fields dream
they perfume the entire night. bis
