I've been walking since I was a child
listening to this guerrilla zamba.
They called her 'The artillerywoman'.

It went from mouth to mouth
with wine and coca leaves
with the troop from the barracks.

(Sung)

We are the artillerymen
who alongside the cannon
kneel on the ground,
those who go to war
with courage.

Salta is my cradle, yes,
I am Güemes' son,
for my Argentine homeland
I always give my blood willingly.

The Fifth is about to leave
there I go to fight
our flag is in danger
a foreign hand
wants to lower it.

Goodbye, beautiful brunette,
the bugle will sound,
I don't want to leave you alone
my black girl because
you will forget me.
