La Trasnochada
Los Chalchaleros
The Night Owl
Night owl dance,
With teary eyes.
Through the moonlit streets,
Death goes dancing.
Death goes dancing,
Because the wine makes it happy.
And within the night owl,
It's cutting its path.
It's cutting its path;
But it walks alone and lost
With a star in its hair,
Between awake and asleep.
Distillers and coachmen:
There goes the night owl;
Crushing the shadow,
Underneath the dust.
There's no shortage of coca chewing;
Nor how and with what to mix it.
No distiller falls asleep
With the guitar in hand.
With the guitar in hand,
The world seems small to me.
The air becomes a craving,
To let out a shout.
When love is deep,
Any little shout stirs it up,
Like the dormant embers,
Underneath the ashes.
Distillers and coachmen:
There goes the night owl;
Crushing the shadow,
Underneath the dust.
