Corazon de Quebracho
Los Chalchaleros
Quebracho Heart
(Cat)
After it rains in my hometown
the earth sprouts reeds;
and the loving ditch
steals brightness from the little sun.
And the flower of the happy air
puts on a bridal veil;
the prickly pears turn silver
and instead of prickly pears, they give roses.
The woodcutter has a drum
with a quebracho heart
that blossoms with bravery
a malambo dance of the boy.
Through the centuries they did not extinguish
the fierce roar of the puma
and on the edges of the Dulce River
white comparsa and foam.
