La Cerrileña
Los Chalchaleros
The Girl from Cerrillos
I come back to see
after a long absence
the road I left
seems to awaken the stones as I pass.
Behind a hill you can see
a carancho fluttering
and in the dam the sound
of the urpillitas singing at dawn.
I haven't forgotten you, my Cerrillo
got back once again,
dear land my voice
will give you its warmth in a sunset.
From time to time you see
the passing of a misachico
going through the town
soon I will see the sky cry over the field.
At night, well saddled
I'm going to the tents
celebrating carnival
only the noise of spurs is heard in the hustle and bustle.
