Corner to the Field
(Zamba)
If through Jujuy and La Plata,
I start to whistle at night,
Corner of my Santiago:
the most authentic zamba
will come to find me.
It was called Corner to the field,
when the singer found the field
and a very Santiago feeling
in rough hands,
velay, flourished.
Corner to the field, like mistoles
have the verses armed there:
they ripened in summer,
with a blind man on the harp
and another on the violin.
Refuge of musicians,
resonant corner that was,
just by remembering you,
my song awakens;
the street too.
Old beauties from my land,
of humble and gentle style.
Their harps embroidered notes,
that keep the zamba nights
from here.
