Los Juramentos de Atacama
Los Cuatro Cuartos
The Oaths of Atacama
To defend the threatened Homeland
Five departed from Atacama
They were five miners with sun-kissed faces
Who swore with all their soul
We depart together, let's fight together
We will all be like brothers
And if one dies, let all die
Say we swear! Sworn, brothers
It was in the battle of San Francisco
Fighting like sworn titans
Three of those brave men remained dead
And over their graves, this epitaph
They fell amidst the smoke of combat
Fighting for their Homeland and their honor
Heroic and brave comrades
Valiant ones from Atacama, farewell, farewell, farewell
Facing the defenses and the cannons
Two defending the entrance to Tacna
Faithfully they fulfilled their oath
The two remaining from Atacama
We depart together, let's fight together
We will all be like brothers
And if one dies, let all die
Say we swear! Sworn, brothers
Together they fell amidst the bullets
Mixing their noble blood, blood of brothers
And from above, their comrades
Repeated this epitaph
They fell amidst the smoke of combat
Fighting for their Homeland and their honor
Heroic and brave comrades
Valiant ones from Atacama, farewell, farewell
Valiant ones from Atacama, farewell, farewell
