Los Querandíes
Los Gardelitos
The Querandíes
We are the Querandíes, heirs of this land
We are grandchildren of the Indian that those shitty men killed
They took the gold, took away our lands
But they could never defeat nature
I don't need the lights or luxuries of the city
I have a woman and friends and many things to give
I have a clear sky and a moon to gaze at
I have a crazy horse that takes me riding
To calm my sorrows by spinning around
I don't need the lights or luxuries of the city
I have plants and flowers, and a humble ranch is my home
I have animals and things to take care of
I only ask the gods for it not to rain endlessly
Let it rain just enough to harvest
Because if the water doesn't stop, we'll be left homeless
I feel sorry for the man who can't rest
For those who live running and can't contemplate
The immensity of the sky, the stars, and the sea
That the most beautiful things can't be bought
They believe in money, that artificial God
They have sad eyes and never stop singing
They know what's necessary and don't want to know more
They live thanking the earth for what it gives them
As the earth is good, it gives them what they ask for
They don't need the lights or luxuries of the city
I know one day the gods will come for me
That life and death have to happen
But I'm not afraid, nor do I want eternity
And I thank life for this opportunity
This opportunity to love
