The forest wakes up, the thrush sings
And a choir of little birds
Sings my zamba next to the cactus

Skies and clouds, Sun's celebration

Beloved land of tradition

My Santiago homeland
That I see like a dream
And the zamba takes away

In the scorching siestas
White sadness of the salt flats
Coolness of carob trees
Mate round under the tala tree

Nights of gatherings
Dawn of the Moon, love song
The Moon of the vidalera
Beats the drum of the heart
