De La Banda a Santiago
Los Manseros Santiagueños
From the Band to Santiago
I am from Santiago, gentlemen
singing the chacarera,
crossing the Dulce River
someone always waits for me.
Having a sip of wine,
beating two old boxes,
vidaleros get ready
to sing in Las Cejas.
Play the drum loudly
as a violin is crying,
I always yearn for Salamanca de Loreto.
I'm arriving in La Banda,
I always remember my homeland,
even though I am far away
I sing to Santiago.
Santiagueñas nights
I can never forget
until the day breaks
we knew how to sing.
The homeland dresses up for a party
when a guitar plays
Oh, how beautiful were
those lovely gatherings.
I'm leaving now, I'm already going
singing the chacarera
under an old tala tree,
so that I may die later.
