Coplas de Chacarera
Los Manseros Santiagueños
Chacarera Verses
I am the soul of my town
I am blossoming in songs
I am the caresses of the wind
That drives away the dark clouds
I am the scent of your salts
And the weeping of the urpilita
The tree of a new day
And the well of fresh water
I am the Moon of the night
That accompanies the traveler
I am a verse of chacarera
Of a sobbing heart
I am the earth that fertilizes
With the sweat of the farmer
I am shade in the summer
And in winter I am fire
I am the mountain that gathers
From the bleating its complaints
I am a saddened dove
When its lover departs
I am aloja that ferments
In the clay jars
I am the dusty road
Well trodden by the carts
I am a solitary dam
Where the Moon reflects
I am piquillin of the mountains
And I am the sweetness of prickly pear
I am the little flower of the air
Humble and quiet
I am the song of the changuito
Who goes herding his flock
