Santo Toribio Romo
Los Originales De San Juan
Saint Toribio Romo
Here’s a shoutout to the crew
From Pastor Ortiz, Michoacán, my friend
We all have a saint or
Someone to worship
Santa Muerte or Saint Jude
Or the Virgin of San Juan
Malverde or Toribio Romo, the patron of the undocumented
Father Toribio Romo was born
And was killed in Jalisco, they took him out
By the agraristas for being a follower of Christ
Since then, many people have seen him appear
By the Rio Bravo or Suchiate or the treacherous desert
This missionary saint saves them from danger
They say sometimes he gives them water, food, and cash
There are thousands of undocumented folks starting to pray to him
They ask Father Romo to help them cross
Deserts, rivers, and borders to reach their dreams
Like an angel or a ghost, he appears to the undocumented
He helps them and even heals them so they can carry on
And then he disappears, a sign that they will arrive
Santa Ana de Guadalupe, you’re visited daily
Jalisco is lucky, you gave them a saint
To the world, the protector of the wetback
