José Pérez León

Los Tigres del Norte Los Tigres del Norte

José Pérez León

He was a country man
Native of Nuevo León
He was only 19 years old
His name: José Pérez León

He had a distant cousin
Who went as an illegal immigrant
Shortly after, he sent a telegram
Saying: Come soon, José

Because a job had been found for him
Picking cotton like him

And he left, and he left
Drowning in tears in the goodbye
With his wife
He left, not knowing
That he would never return from that journey
Poor José

When he reached the border
He met with Willy
He was the most famous
And cunning coyote in the region
He said: Pepe, today you're lucky
Tomorrow, I'll cross you

On a Friday morning
At an old station
Thirty innocents paid their fee
Among them, José Pérez León
And without hesitation, they all got
Inside a wagon

The train crossed to the other side
Almost 7 hours later
That's when the air began to run out
And they couldn't do anything
No one heard those cries for help
And the door wouldn't budge

One by one, they fell
And so, the good José died

And he left, and he left
To cross the sky with his desires to grow
He left, not knowing
That his wife was already pregnant with his child
Poor José

This is how the story ends, there's nothing more to tell
Of another countryman who risks his life
And dies as an illegal
Of that José who had a thousand dreams and who
Will never return home
