Mis Dos Patrias
Los Tigres del Norte
My Two Homelands
Raise your right hand
And repeat after me
I pledge allegiance to the flag
Of the United States of America
And to the republic
For which it stands
One nation under God
Indivisible, with liberty and justice for all
Congratulations, you are now all
American citizens
For those who say I'm a traitor
And that I betrayed my flag and my nation
To break down borders with my song
I’ll open wide my heart
I left the graves of my parents, my grandparents
I arrived crying in this Anglo land
I was working, my kids were growing up
They were all born under this great nation
And my rights have been trampled on
They keep making laws that twist the constitution
What will I do when I'm old if they take my money?
I just want my pension plan
But what does it matter if I'm a new citizen?
I’m still Mexican like pulque and cactus
And my Central and South American brothers
Caribbean or Cuban bring that tropical blood
So they respect the rights of my people
Two homelands can fit in the same heart
The judge stood in the courtroom
That afternoon of the oath
A salty tear welled up in my heart
That burned me from within
Two flags troubled me
One green, white, and red with the eagle stamped
The other with its blue full of stars
With its red and white stripes engraved
The flag of my children who joyfully looked at me
Don’t call me a traitor
Because I love my two homelands
In mine, I left my dead
Here, here my children were born
For defending my rights
I can’t be a traitor
But what does it matter if I'm a new citizen?
I’m still Mexican like pulque and cactus
And my Central and South American brothers
Caribbean or Cuban bring that tropical blood
So they respect the rights of my people
Two homelands can fit in the same heart
