Tiempos de Mayo
Los Tigres del Norte
May Times
They were the times of May
When the roses were blooming
Gerardo from the North arrived
To marry his girlfriend
No one thought that in the church
Things would get complicated
The rain came from the sky
The clock struck 4
But death was lurking
The streets of Guanajuato
With the bark of a dog
The meow of a cat was heard
On the way to the church
The cat was stalking them
But a bullet stained
The whitest dress
Between the altar and the door
The bride collapsed
In Gerardo's arms
She died as he kissed her
The cat went to the hills
The grave was forgotten
People never heard from Gerardo again
But May arrived
When the roses bloomed
He headed towards the grave
As if someone was calling him
As if death itself
Was leading him by the hand
As if he was in a hurry
To reunite with his beloved
The cat wasn't brave
But he also adored her
And with his striped eyes
He cried like Gerardo
Between the grave and the fountain
Their guns fired
The cat slipped
And clung to the cross
Gerardo was dragged
To the forgotten grave
They both brought flowers
Bathed in soil and blood
They both died in May
When the roses were blooming
