El Ojo de Agua
Los Tucanes de Tijuana
The Water Eye
A water eye in the mountains
It's a mine, sir
I plant, harvest, and sell
There's never a drought for my flowers
All year is the season
Little eye of my loves.
If the government discovers it
They won't even know what it's about
I put up a sign for them to read
If someone passes by, it says
"we live for you, regards the cows".
Habits save you strength
My father said once
If someone follows your trail
Wear the sandal backwards
That way you catch them head-on
And you can defend yourself.
He who perseveres achieves
I learned that a long time ago
Today I have what I want
Even if the government follows me
But that doesn't worry me
Being poor scares me.
I have plantations in plain sight
To mislead the government
And every time they burn them
I plant them again
They think they ruin me
They don't know there are hills full.
Everything I harvest
I send it to the gringos
They send me bills
And the kids get mad at me
"if the sun rises for everyone
Why make shade, boys".
To succeed in life
You don't have to be a trafficker
But if that's what you decide
That's a different story
Give me a call
The water eye is very big.
