La Historia de Benito

Today I want to tell you, the simplest story
Of a man who in his life, was called Benito
He was very eloquent, preached the Bible
With great wonders, God backed him up

On many occasions, I heard him speak of the Calvary
And souls crying, receiving the Lord
From distant places, they came to listen to him
He was highly regarded, like a holy man

One day he turned his back on the message of Christ
And Brother Benito returned to sin
The brothers wept, the church held a vigil
And all his family prayed for his well-being

After some time, he reconciled again
And God began to use him, as before
But now that he has come out of the devil's trap
He came out with the bad habit of standing and falling

Therefore, beloved brother, resist the evil one
With the help of Christ, I know you will overcome
Do not allow anything to damage your testimony
And lose in heaven such a sublime inheritance

Brother Benito fell again
Giving free rein to vice and pleasure
Perhaps he did it thinking: Someday I will seek heaven
But he did not realize that God turned away from him

When he wanted to seek Him, as was his custom
It turned out that the fire of judgment enveloped him
And the more he implored, to heaven in his lament
He found, indeed, greater condemnation

He sought Jesus Christ, in fasting and vigil
But the God of the Bible, no longer answered him
And the anguish was so great, before the closed heaven
That his own sin, led him to perdition

One morning he went to the backyard of his house
Using his own belt as a bandage
Putting it around his neck from the root of a tree
Benito, our brother, hung himself like Judas

Therefore, beloved brother, resist the evil one
With the help of Christ, I know you will overcome
