Coplas de Una Tropa
Los Zorzales
Troop Verses
The wind drives the dust
I carry my soul in the saddlebags
The tracks keep the time
In this extensive troop
In my saddle, a tamed horse
With a feathered crest
It gets bored with the leagues, at a trot
And I guide it in circles
The troop moves forward
Tuning in on the trail
I take out the poncho, release the dogs
To throw a calf in the water
A storm that revives
Smell of wet cow
The Curuya was caught
At the head of the herd
With the horse halfway reined
Holding the troop
A cow gets tangled
Looking for shade and breath
The dogs like a flash
They find her by the snout
Creak of saddle and saddlecloth
Mooing of cattle moving forward
They harmonize with the prose
Of opa opa, it was a cow
The cinch on the chest bone
As if squeezing the cravings
The Sun hides in the mountain, there's mate
And a rib roast on the stake
A blazing fire
That gathers the gazes
In the circle, the leading cowboy
Kills sleep with tobacco and brandy
The Moon swallows another day
And some money for the houses
In a quiet mystery
Distances become short
An old trade that fades away
Drowning in new times
A bed of sheepskins
A blanket of stars
She burns in my chest
Thinking of seeing her soon
The day starts early
Gray sky and tough back
The poncho down and the leather, there's rain
And a well-tipped hat
The troop moves forward
Tuning in on the trail
I take out the poncho, release the dogs
To throw a calf in the water
A storm that revives
Smell of wet cow
