I was raised in the countryside
In a mud and grass ranch

I grew up mending
Sleeping in the sheds
By the warmth of a bonfire
With my hair smoky

My lassoed horse neighs in the gallery

And you can hear a barefoot man
Yelling in the mud

Eating boiled beans
With little fat and no salt

My saddled horse
Neighs in the stable
While a swamp hen
Sings perched
