Bailinho No Sertão

Dance Party in the Countryside
Oh, how I miss the dance parties in the countryside
This longing hurts my heart -
Everyone danced with so much energy
The dance parties out in the fields were my fun.
And usually, we danced all year long
There was never a shortage of ladies or gentlemen
Those dances were truly a delight
We danced with respect, no one thought of anything shady.
No one was looked down upon
Old folks danced with young ones, young ones with the old
We danced the two-step, the shuffle, and the baião;
To the sound of an accordion, a tambourine, and a guitar.
They don’t throw parties like they used to
Everything's changed now, it’s so different
Modern times have altered our tradition
Now there are hardly any dance parties in the countryside.
