Escada de Jacó

Jacob's Ladder
Jacob left Isaac's house
And went to live with a relative
He was fleeing from Esau
And on the way, he made a vow to God
If I am happy on this journey
I will dedicate my life to you
If I return to my land
I will embrace my brother
He called out, after getting up
This place is no other place
But the house of God
He called out, after getting up
This place is no other place
But the house of God
The day ended and he was tired
He took a stone to use as a pillow
And lay down at the foot of a tree
It was already night and he fell asleep there
He dreamed he saw a great ladder
From heaven to earth he perceived
Angels going up and down on it
And as the day dawned, he woke up
He called out, after getting up
This place is no other place
But the house of God
He called out, after getting up
This place is no other place
But the house of God
Jacob arrived at Laban's house
He worked as a shepherd for him
His salary was to win Rachel
And the Lord gave him many blessings
He gained cows and many sheep
And also received his wife
After a 14-year struggle
In that land, he thanked God
He called out, after getting up
This place is no other place
But the house of God
He called out, after getting up
This place is no other place
But the house of God
He took his family and his flock
And all the possessions Laban gave him
And returning to his land
On the way, he wrestled with God
At night, he held an angel
Asked for a blessing and the Lord gave it to him
His name is no longer Jacob
But Israel, the people of God
He called out, after getting up
This place is no other place
But the house of God
He called out, after getting up
This place is no other place
But the house of God
