La mamma
Luca Carboni
Mom
A mom coming down the stairs
closes her eyes and thinks
about what, I don’t know
but for sure a mom thinks about it
A mom gets up, looks for you
at midnight you can’t say it’s evening
at midnight it’s night
God, how ugly the night is
there’s nothing that can feel good
A mom is a bit to hide
and a bit to show off
you can kiss a mom in a rush
if you don’t have anything to say
Sometimes you wonder about a mom
how she is while making love
if she likes it, and who knows how she likes it
having her eyes closed
and then letting go
And we kids are made this way
and we want our moms this way
FOREVER
Check if yours is still there
and if she understands she lost you for me
FOREVER
A mom gives you life
and then disappears in silence
that silence, for sure, I don’t know
stays a bit inside you
Like a noise, it stays in your heart
in your ears, there’s a way of saying
"...Hey, wait a moment
I’ll call you back in a moment..."
("No, don’t leave me alone,
you can’t ever leave me!
no, don’t leave me alone,
you can’t ever leave me!")
"Stop doing that,
you know I won’t let you go"
FOREVER
"Really, now, come on, hang up
and keep thinking about me"
FOREVER
