De Rico a Mendigo
Luis Alberto Posada
From Riches to Rags
He was a very wealthy man and knew no hardships
He mocked the suffering beings
His arrogance didn't hide towards the helpless
Unleashing all the weight of his cruel humiliation
He was grand in his wealth and desecrated the temples
He boasted of powers, blinded by his illusion
He savaged the humble like a wolf in sheep's clothing
He ignored that destiny would take away his ambition
He proudly trampled those who asked for food
Imposing and disdainful, he laughed at the unfortunate
He threw away the food he had in excess
He didn't let the hungry pick up his leftovers
Now he's no longer the powerful one with grandeur
The power of that money faltered in his life
Now he begs for alms at the church's entrance
Because he had no mercy, he hopes for some favor
An experienced beggar advised the rich man
You who had everything, why do you come to beg?
In this sacred church that you desecrated so much
Go and ask your own, they will give you abundantly
He proudly trampled those who asked for food
Imposing and disdainful, he laughed at the unfortunate
He threw away the food he had in excess
He didn't let the hungry pick up his leftovers
