The Almond Tree Of Onda La Tere
That almond tree from where La Tere is
is the witness of my childhood,
under its wide canopy
I fell round from heat
for your affection Maria Ines.
Donkey shoes, tight pants,
I saw the dawn of your blush,
I saw the clear depth of your pupils
like two pools of calm waters,
where my childhood submerged.
If you ask me why your name
I could never forget,
you must know that I carry it inside
in the scent of the almond trees
that sprouted today in my land.
Today when I passed by the general store
Tere Armijo saw me cry,
in my joyful eyelashes
a tear remained behind
from that yesterday that won't return.
Looking into the depths of the big house
my whole chest trembled,
I suddenly felt all my childhood
when the fragrance arrived
from the blossoming almond tree.
