Ao Canto da Noite
Luis Represas
At the Night's Corner
At the night's corner
I waited for the day
For hours to see her arrive
At the night's corner
I was already desperate
In all the corners she left behind
I waited like a day
Like an afternoon
Or even like tomorrow
Waiting to see herself yesterday
Already carried in arms
By the sunset
At the night's corner
No one stayed
Pretending to write poems to no one
At the night's corner
No one let
Confessions slip away for losing someone
Only those who passed by
And looked into nothingness
Saw a shadow hiding
Behind nothingness
The day waits
Like a slave to the horizon
It waits
In the depths of the night's corner
It flees
Far from the night's corner
At the night's corner
The day thought
That it could one day fall in love
If there were another day
That looked at it
And they both let themselves go
At the corner of a night
Without fears
Without rules to follow
Then flee from the corner
Without a destination
Without routes to follow
It has been heard
That in that corner resides the soul
Of many other souls
From other corners
From other nights
