Governador do Egito
Luiz Castilho
Governor of Egypt
When the Sun shone hot, penetrating into the infinite
As the Ishmaelites passed by
From my pit, a scream is heard
It was Joseph shouting
His brothers did this
Potiphar bought the boy
Upon arriving in Egypt
But time passed
And the boy grew up
Gaining trust
Becoming governor
And gathering provisions
He placed in storehouses
Seven years of plenty
And seven more of dread
After some years passed
In unforeseen lands
They had to go buy food
In Egypt
And Jacob sent his sons
To buy with great faith
Unaware that the ruler
Was his son Joseph
But Joseph seeing the young men
Quickly recognized them
And after harsh trials
He said: Do you know who I am?
I am that boy
That you yourselves sold
They fell to the ground
As soon as he recognized them
Joseph said to them
I cried with longing!
But fear not, my brothers!
For I have already forgiven you
Everything you did, to me was a favor
Today here in Egypt, I am the governor
