Romagem à Lapa
Luiz Góes
Pilgrimage to Lapa
If one day life stopped and we went back
To the time that was
And if the Mondego river flowed and took everyone
To an old day
Maybe Lapa would sing and engrave in stone
Our joy
Maybe Lapa would smile and from the stone would be heard
Hello, poetry
If now the river could bring together those who suffer
From such nostalgia
And so many people came, without dreams or prayers
And without rebellion
Maybe Lapa would cry, engrave in stone
Our agony
Maybe Lapa would suffer and to the stone would say
Goodbye, poetry
