Saudade de Pernambuco
Luiz Gonzaga
Nostalgia for Pernambuco
Oh, how I miss Pernambuco
From Iputinga, Arruda, Encruzilhada
From Água Fria, Torre, Dois Irmãos
The longing's so strong, I can't resist
If my heart tightens more, I’ll catch a flight
I’m gonna eat sarapaté, jerk beef with beans
I’ll have a Pitú or Chica Boa with lime
When I think of Recife, oh, it hurts my heart
From Sivuca's accordion, to Sherlock chatting away
From Turim and Buda Peixe, Haroldo Praça stuttering
From the lobster stew, to crab with shrimp
From the beach at Rio Doce, everything's beautiful, my friend
From cashew, pineapple, and summer afternoons
Oh, oh my God, I’m gonna go back
I can’t take it anymore, when I remember, I wanna cry
From those bridges over the Capibaribe
From the hunts in Beberibe
And the moonlit nights
From the tough guys with knives at their sides
And a bunch on alert
And the lazy ones just hanging around
In Pernambuco, everything's different
How great those folks are, once you go, you don’t wanna leave
Calm down, old heart!
You’re just in a little bit of trouble, huh?!
