La Conquista
Mägo de Oz
The Conquest
The wind woke up
Raising the God of the sea
While the sun yawned
The horizon was unveiled
They undressed with a sensual air
The coast and the shoreline
Letting the mist fall at their feet
I thought I saw the garden of Eden
And upon setting foot on solid ground, I saw
Some people who, upon seeing
Our attire, didn't know what to do
We have come to exchange
Your dreams for faith
Your gold for power
To a God and a king to follow
War, death, destruction
Our anthem, what courage!
To the soldier and the lord
The conquest excited them
And although I never wanted to be like him
I will ask that never again
Another people be conquered
I want to ask for forgiveness
And conquer your heart
I want to ask for forgiveness
In a battle, the first casualties
Are justice and love
And to you I speak today
Take care of and love your tradition
Today I seek your forgiveness
If you love your land, please
Do not neglect to care for it
