En La Que El Bernat Se’t Troba
Manel
In Which Bernat Finds You
And last night we met three tall and elegant women
And with one I agreed
We talked, we laughed, and we made love
And she told me about her country and the things she does here
With a quite strange, surprisingly fluent Spanish.
'What a big nose you have,' she said,
The tall woman from the bed, and pointed to the wall
At a green painting she had done as a girl.
And 'how beautiful! how beautiful! how beautiful!' I said to myself,
What a sweet girl she must have been,
What a pleasure to have met her a long time ago.
'If you close both eyes,' she said,
'If you stay still in bed, I'll teach you a song
That they sang to me at home to go to sleep.
It talks about a forest and a lord who lives isolated among elms and flowers
And protects himself from evil humans with an army of animals'
And 'how beautiful! how beautiful! how beautiful!' I said to myself,
And what a delicate voice she has,
What a pleasure to have met her a long time ago.
But Bernat told me he saw you in Barcelona,
That you were with a very tall man,
That you asked him if we still saw each other
And that you send me many regards.
