La Sombra De Una Palmera
Manolo Garcia
The Shadow of a Palm Tree
The warmth that you have given me
Did not return at any moment.
I didn't find another white blackbird.
There is none under the sky.
From the flight of your doves,
From the wing of your hat,
I swung on the eaves
Of the airs you gave yourself.
Fans for eyelashes
That every time you looked at me
My reeds bent
Little umbrella sticks.
The shadow of a palm tree
Is nourishment for the soul.
Now that everything has passed;
Mist of feeling.
Longing for another time
When your presence honored me
That was your sincere friendship,
Selfless and true.
Of the shadow, of the shadow that I loved.
Of the shadow, of the shadow that is gone.
The shadow of your palm tree
Shelters me, it's an encounter.
With its arms it surrounds me,
Soothes my suffering.
It's a desert of waits,
Of burning sunrises,
Of mornings that bloom
Like snake trunks.
The shadow of a palm tree
Is nourishment for the soul,
It's a desert of sand.
Now that everything has passed,
Mist of feeling.
Of the shadow, of the shadow that I loved.
Of the shadow, of the shadow that is gone.
