Face of Christ
Every time I read the story of Christ
I think, with great emotion
Of the privilege that many had
To see his face, feel his hand
I would also have the same joy
To have him very close
Right next to me
To look into his eyes, serene and gentle
Oh, how happy I would be!
I wanted to know what his face was like
Although I feel
That it was very beautiful
Inspiring faith
And also trust
And gave everyone
A joy in the endless!
Seeing the engravings of the painted pictures
Of what they say is my Lord
My being does not accept what is on the canvas
The painter's inspiration is false
I don't believe! I don't believe!
In a defeated Christ
Full of bitterness
Countenance of pain!
I believe in a Christ
With a joyful face!
For I believe in a Christ
Who is victorious!
And one day I too
Will see him face to face
And so I believe
By my faith
Oh! Hallelujah, I will see his face
I will see Jesus as he is
