Le Spaghetti À Papa

Thank goodness for dad's spaghetti
To get us out of boredom
When there's nothing else to eat
It's always good to remember
Dad's spaghetti is better
Than a plate of ground meat
Just hot enough

Lean ground beef
Tomato paste
Stewed tomatoes
Tomato juice
Celery, mushrooms
Carrots if you want
Kalamata olives
Red wine, pepper, salt
Hot red peppers
And chopped onions

Take a pot
Put some butter in it
Or extra virgin olive oil
If you like it less greasy
Brown the meat
Stir it a little
Break it apart and let it brown
Then add the onions

Add the tomatoes
Tomato paste
Tomato juice
Wine with the tomatoes

Stewed tomatoes
Don't leave them whole
Stirring will make them fall apart
Mushrooms
Don't cut them, leave them whole
It's much prettier
It's much tastier
Smell a lot
Taste a lot
Be careful not to burn
The top of your lip

Add the carrots
And celery first
Olives
Go in last
Mushrooms
If you want to keep their shape
Add them last
Otherwise, they'll shrink

Let it simmer on low heat
Covered, it goes pout pout pout

When it smells good
In the house
It means
It's ready to eat
When it smells burnt
It means
It's stuck to the bottom
