A La Pasada
Marcelo Miraglia
By the Way
Well, I'm going to start
Without so much talk
Saying that the pleasure is mine
To be in this place
And to be able to leave
My humble folk song
That I feel it and I love it
I put it to God as a witness
Because this was born with me
On the day I was born
How I find myself among countrymen
To sing I asked for a cheap place
After all, the time is short
Because I set up with few rolls
Since I'm not so young anymore
I have a lot of experience
And if I asked for this flight
It's not that I'm looking for fame
Like the bird on the branch
I sing without asking for anything
Listen up
Whoever wants to listen to me
Because singing is not shouting
But the message it leaves
The shout quickly fades away
And will be lost in nothing
Filling any stop
To go further and with advantage
A truth in a low voice
That is a shouted lie
I never liked to boast
Man is neither more nor less
And I always feel out the terrain
To know where to stand
When it's my turn to play
I do it without hindrance
And although this is not very country-like
Hope dictates it to me
It's better to peel close
Than to err with all the rolls
For me, it's the duty of the singer
To know what he's doing
To know what he's saying
And not be an imitator
Who makes the mistake
Of starting to joke around
He can roll close
And punish without delay
Because to use a bolas
You have to know how to throw
Being a singer of the plains
They won't see me very polished
That's why I haven't lost
The pure essence of singing
I bring in me the culture
Of general stores and campfires
That's why my songs
Are in a countryman's language
And if the country folk understand me
I have achieved my goals
And now I'm going to say goodbye
Because that's how I've been taught
To greet when I arrive
And also when I leave
In my pampa I will immerse myself
There between sky and plain
But I will return, fellow countryman
When everything God decides
With my country milongas
And a firm handshake
