A Cruz do Meio
Marco Aurélio
The Middle Cross
What a cruel scenario, an environment of pain
Who was that defendant agonizing with love
What did he do, what were the crimes in the end
What reasons could be enough, for someone to suffer so much
Innocent yet a defendant, without sin, a sinner
Between earth and heaven is my Redeemer
What irony was seen, when the veil was torn
The very one who did not transgress
Became the greatest transgressor
On the middle cross, the main cross
In one single act, the total price
The cross stained with blood projects the light
On the middle cross, the highest favor
An inexplicable gesture of love
On the middle cross, suffering for us is Jesus
Cruel slaps, mockery and pain
Nails in hands and feet, the crown of horror
But the greatest pain, what hurt Him the most
The shame of exposing Himself there, on that raised cross
My God! My God! Why, why have you forsaken me?
Father, into your hands I commit my spirit
It is finished
His cold body descended into the tomb, the people dispersed
Said He would rise again and no one remembered
But three days later, the angel's voice was heard
He is no longer here, He has risen
The middle cross remained empty
Symbolizing the martyrdom and pain
In that sad scenario, Jesus saved me
